A Poem + Practice is an attempt at poetic pause by sharing a story, idea, theme or insight from my live experience and encourage you to think about yours!
This year has been a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows. I have wholly surrendered to this cadence in search of harmony and rhythm in this season of my life.
Speaking of seasons, this time of the year between fall and winter is magical. It always gets me in a reflective mode. It is time to think of all that has happened in the past year. And, dream about the plans for the year ahead.
from the book
I am going to share a few stanzas from my poem from the Conclusion section of my first book, A Poet in the Workplace to begin this Newsletter journey. Talking about the end is in keeping with this idea that when something ends, something begins.
A POEM
The leaves slowly fall, right beneath the tree
the tree that carries them through seasons
and adorns them alike in its greenest glory,
only to let them fall to be brown, dry, and free.
The wind picks them up in a swift swirl
Turn of events, they begin another journey
away from their soil, their land of birth,
and so, so far away from their mother tree
The leaves are gone now for a while now,
It is just the two, you and the lonely dry tree
It took all these changing seasons to let go,
to shed all the burdens and be carefree.

Reflection
What are you letting go in this season of your life?
As you walk along the pathway with fall leaves strewn around, think of what are you ready to shed today, this month, this year and in this season of your life.
And, what will take its place?
When the leaves fall, a new season beckons, a season of renewal.
Exercise
Renewal starts from within like the tree is already getting ready for new leaves. It will take months until Spring to show its colors. Is there one thing that will help you renew, in the upcoming year, start doing it today - daily and in short bursts.
+ an invitation
This whole year has been about writing my first book on life and leadership and creating a self-paced online course on the topics. If you are interested, check out my offers on the campaign page
